An impressive pair of chinoiserie-inspired brass table lamps in the manner of Hollywood Regency designer James Mont. Traditional form being a fang (square) interpretation of hu and gui archaic ritual bronzes from the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Such vessels furnished the tombs of China’s elite, and were used to hold offerings of food and drink to ones’ ancestors. Very heavy cast brass body, features a beautifully executed and ornate flora & fauna motif throughout. Distinguished by a pair of ring handles that hang from stylized animal like heads on either side. Cap and Ming-style ebonized finish wood base.
