A lovely pair of Chinese export famille rose enameled porcelain armorial plates, mid 18th century, China.
The plates of unusual octagonal form with scalloped corners. The center of each dish painted with a large armorial design based on the Pembridge coat of arms, featuring a shield and lion passant both with blue and gold stripes, and a band of three white stars on a diagonal against a coral ground crossing the shield. The sides with coral, pink, and green scrolls.
The wide everted lip of the plates painted with scattered flowers and foliage in pinks, purples and greens. With an iron red painted and gilt barb or spear border and a further border of the same design for the rim.
The back undecorated.
Overall a lovely pair and suitable for hanging or display.
