This antique sterling silver ladies belt was made by Luen Wo of Shanghai China in circa 1900 in the period Chinese Export style. The belt is done with individual block links incorporating Chinese characters with floral and leaf decoration. The links are held together with wire loops and the buckle has a sturdy hook and post construction. The hook on the buckle is clearly hallmarked “LW” for Luen Wo with the Chinese sterling mark and the cartouche for Shanghai. One link has been removed for sizing, and can be re-fastened to the belt if required. The measurements for the length of the belt include this additional link.
