A large ceramic glazed elephant garden stool in blue, green, and mint. Collectors across the globe have coveted these chinoiserie garden stools for decades. This one in particular is unique as it features a pattern we’ve not seen before. The elephant is glazed in a rich blue and wears a tapestry with a mint, cream, and yellow pattern. Faux tassels hang from the tapestry edges in a creamy yellow. The elephant stands upon a rich emerald green glazed base. Around the edges of the base is a border with a squiggly pattern in rich blue, with sky-blue circles and glazed semi-circles in yellow. The elephant has its trunk down and wears a traditional elephant garland on his head. The top of the piece is flat and square and perfect for displaying a plant or lamp. Or even for use as a drinks table. There is a round mauve medallion that looks to be a Chinese character at the center.
Many collect these bright stools because, in Asian culture, elephants symbolize protection, good luck, wisdom, and fertility. The versatile statue can be used on a patio as a plant stand, as a side table in any space, or even as extra seating in a pinch.
