Created in England during the reign of king George III, this tall case clock features a slender silhouette perfectly complimented by a black and gold Chinoiserie décor. The clock is topped with a rectangular head showcasing a delicate rhythm of turned finials and thin columns with gilded Doric style capitals, leading our eyes to discover the exquisite face secured behind a glass panel. This face is made of several dials surrounded by brass scrolling motifs. The larger dial presents Roman hours and Arabic minutes. It is signed Ben Goddard London. The body showcases a Japanned Chinoiserie décor with architectures and figures on sailboats or walking in luscious vegetation.
