It was designed for “De Bijenkorf” the Netherlands in the 1960s and was inspired by a model designed by Gerrit Rietveld. This room divider is a pretty rare piece of Dutch mid-century design. It was designed by Wim Rietveld, the son of legendary Architect Gerrit Rietveld, for luxury department store “De Bijenkorf” in the Netherlands. “De Bijenkorf” is comparable to Harrods or Bergdorf Goodman and can still be visited in Amsterdam the Netherlands.
Bijenkorf commissioned some of the best Dutch Designers to create a range of furniture products. Among the designers were names like Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld, Gio Ponti and Friso Kramer.
