They are comprised of patinated black painted frames with an overall purposeful patina and embellished with wonderful intricately hand painted Chinoiserie Regency style scenes, trimmed with gilded lines. They have gorgeous ring & turned style legs, fantastic slat fan backs, and the seats are upholstered in a new old stock lovely olive green fabric adorned with red & gold dragonflies. The Union National Furniture Co. of Jamestown, NY., was formed in 1939 from the National Furniture Co., which had been in business since the early 1890’s. Both companies were owned and operated by the Nord family. The Nords made quality high-end furniture. Union National catered to many famous people including William Holden, Jerry Lewis, Lucile Ball, Wayne Newton, and others. The furniture was expensive and brings top dollar to current day. All furniture by Union National was made of quality hardwoods and painted pieces were done by highly skilled artists, such as C. Gaeto. Union National Furniture closed their doors in 1994.
