Vintage Design
The unknown Dutch manufacturer takes clear formal borrowings from Marcel Breuer’s designs B 55 and B 46, both from 1928/29. The implementation bears formal approaches to machine aesthetics. As with the B 46, the load transfer between the seat and back forms A rectangle. Unfortunately, our chair doesn’t look as formally successful as the Breuer design. Nevertheless, our furniture is considered to be evidence of formal and constructive efforts from the early days of steel furniture and can hardly be found on the market today.
With some signs of wear. The cantilever chair from the Netherlands of the 1930s has A clear patina. The original, nickel-plated tubes show clear signs of corrosion. The cotton fabric in the seat has A old repair from below.
