A beautiful early 20th century Chinese Coromandel 4 panel black lacquer room divider. One side Features a Chinese village and river landscape with applied and carved bovine over a gold painted backing. A pagoda or temple is at the fore front with geishas, scholars and animals placed throughout the scene. The bottom part of the screen has four smaller panels with cherry blossoms and birds. The other side carries on the bird motif with an intricate hand painted scene of tropical birds and foliage. Vibrantly painted in gold with highlights of red and green for the flowers and birds. The base of the screen has metal capped feet and the panels are joined with brass two way hinges. An amazing screen with great depth and design elements that will add warmth to any space.

Condition:GoodWear consistent with age and use. Wear/distressing consistent with age/use. Some hazing to lacquer/missing /chipped paint. Carved side is dry/brittle with several missing pieces. Pieces sometimes fall off when moved. Hinges loose from being moved/redrilled over the years.
