19th Century China Trade Seascape with a Junk, by Lee Heng, circa 1870, an oil on board seascape with large Chinese Junk under full sail in the foreground, four other craft in the background (two of which may be western ships), signed in Chinese calligraphy in the lower right and translated on the reverse; mounted with original oval gilded mat board in original carved and gilded wooden frame.
The painting and frame both remain in excellent condition.
A lovely painting with large, bold and colorful craft, portrayed with a very placid mood. Chinese export domestic seascapes are scarce in this size, and are very scarce with signature of the artist.
