Vintage Design
Solid Oak Coffee Table, the result of the combined work of Robert Guillerme (1913 – 1990) and Jacques Chambron (1914 – 2010). The first is a Designer and designer of interior furniture, graduated at the top of his class from the Boulle school in Paris. The second, a graduate of the School of Arts in Reims, is, at the beginning of his career, a Painter-Decorator. From the meeting of these two men will be born in 1949 the company “Votre Maison”. Then associated with the cabinetmaker Emile Dariosecq who manufactures, Guillerme creates, and Chambron commerce. Since it was taken over by Bernard Defraye, the Lille company now offers, in addition to its initial activity, a service of Antique Furniture Restoration.
This Table is composed of an Oval tray filled with twelve Granite tiles, in Ceramics, with Grey patterns all different from each other. With its 4.5 cm thickness, this top inspires Solidity.
It rests on four straight legs with a Square section, finished with a Turning. They are connected in pairs by crossbars forming a cross brace, which reassures the stability of the whole.
We find in this Small Lounge Table certain characteristics of Guillerme’s creations, namely the work of Oak and the predominance of Light shades. Originally, “Votre Maison” was resolutely intended to be a manufacturer of “Quality Furniture in which one can live every day”. A successful gamble.
