Stunning 19th century Napoleon III French black lacquered Chinoiserie mirror, acquired from the estate of descendants of Jules Verne’s family, the Salomon-Mortello family, following the sale of their property (Hôtel Particulier) Boulevard Camus in Nantes, it was then acquired by a dealer in Nantes.
The superb fretwork of the shaped crest depicting two Chinese figures in an oriental garden in gold and silver on black lacquer, reminiscent of the 18th century Chippendale style, but this mirror dates from the second part of the 19th century, circa 1860.
